Dental deserts have been blamed for the rise in 'DIY dentistry' which sees Brits use hardware tools, or kits bought online, to carry out dental treatment at home instead. The worst performer in England for NHS dental access had 57 times fewer dental practices per 1,000 people than some of the more affluent London areas. But the figures, collected by LIG inform a data platform run by to the Local Government Association (LGA), show massive levels of disparity across the country. Nationally, there is only one NHS dental practice per 4,975 people in England as of January this year.
